Increased aldosterone levels
Yes. Spironolactone binds to and blocks the aldosterone receptor. However, the aldosterone is still present in the bloodstream (and so levels tend increase in the blood and urine). This is of no clinical significance, however, as the receptors are blocked so the aldosterone is unable to cause any harmful effects.
